Useful to know

Just been reading the blog of 'Travelling in no direction' in which they say you do still need a cycle permit for the towpaths but that it can be downloaded free from Waterscape and then you can print it off, sign it and laminate it yourself and attach it to your bike.

So I have just done that very thing.
