Patterns in the snow

Contours - reminds me of Mount Rushmore

Shadows - geometric (ish)

Steep slope

Idiot in the snow

Just a tad deeper than expected.  Glad I decided to step rather than jump - or I could have been in over my head.   Oops.

Glad I went yesterday

The boat had some ice around it yesterday but nothing too major.  Wonder what it looks like today.

I am not going anywhere today.

Cat isn't going far either ...

Boat info for me

Purely for my needs. Called at the boat yesterday to check all okay.  Batteries reading 97% but opted not to run the engine but hope the solar panels keep it from dropping below this.

Engine is leaking water coolant.

There had been a small amount when I left the boat on the 16th as I had run the engine to get back to the mooring - there is now about twice that.  I will keep monitoring.

Initial thoughts was that it was the Mikuni that was leaking coolant as it only started leaking when I was on the boat in cold weather and started using the central heating but as I have now isolated the source of the leak (although not fully ruled out some from the skin tank connection hence the cloth strategically placed) I am pretty sure it is coming from the joints but daren't nip the jubilee clips up any more in case it breaks the plastic pipe.  It could however be a split pipe.
I tried taping up with duct tape but as you can see that hasn't helped.
How long do these black hoses normally last before starting to perish?

The boat was put on the water 6th November 2009 should I book an engine service on an annual basis or just get the pipework looked at?  I daren't do it myself as I would probably lose too much coolant into the bilges.  Would need there to be two people anyway one to hold the pipes up and other to fetch and carry small tools!
A fully trained octopus would be good.

I wonder - do trees feel sorrow?

I spotted this very intimate embrace on the bridlepath.  It wasn't immediately obvious which tree the branch belonged to until I passed them and looked back and got this angle.

As you can see they are very 'close' indeed.

But how would you feel if someone you have been this close to dies in your arms?

And then hangs around for another couple of years?

I have been blessed

View this morning as I set out on my walk.

By sheer good luck I managed to do a two hour circular walk involving a lovely bridleway which ended up being on the non towpath side of the canal.  I decided to keep walking until I hit a bridge and come back via said towpath.

Magic.

"And just where do you think you have been all this time?"  Was written all over her face.

So this is how she does it ...

On this basis I guess she prefers pilings

Why is it ...

My house looks so much nicer after I have moved out?

I had to put carpet on the stairs (and in one of the upstairs bedrooms) because tenants need carpet apparently.

Anyway I loved going up the carpeted stairs it was like walking on air.
Wish I had had it done when I lived there!  Not forgetting having the hallway / landing etc stripped of the horrid wood chip, skimmed and painted.

I want to move back.

That's a lie

Hoping to spend a couple of days back on the boat now the house is sorted.
