starts here.
It can only get warmer . . .
At least I hope it does. Getting the boat up to a decent temperature from a standing start is proving not so successful. :)
My new batteries are nowhere near as good as the old (gel) ones and I suspect one of the three bought in August might be faulty as adding a further two at the end of October doesn't appear to have helped much. Running the central heating for 1.5 hours on the first day reduced the batteries from 100% to 84% and an hour this morning reduced them from 83% to 74%.
This is the first time I have run with the five lead acid type so it might take a few charges etc before they settle down.
so to run the central heating this afternoon I will also be running the engine (the water should be piping hot!)

We were a little dismayed when we fitted our new Varta AGM's last May as they didnt seem up to much. After a few charges they seemed to pick up and be a lot happier. They also seem to charge better from the engine rather then the battery charger.
Thanks for that bit of hope. :)
I will give them a chance before throwing a complete wobbly.
This morning after an hour and a quarter of central heating they only dropped from 100% to 92% which is a bit better. Plus despite watching tv till late last night they were still at 100% in the morning.
Hurrah, nice to see you out again!
My first 6 months have been battery challenged too, with her former shoreline batteries not holding up. Help on the way though!
Happy Cruising!

Hi Denise how lovely to hear from you again. Batteries are a right royal p*** in the a*** aren't they. Hope you get yours sorted soon and are still enjoying the onboard life. Happy cruising to you too. Kath
