So today I hung some pictures up. Makes the place feel homely. I have also checked (inadvertently) their ability to survive superfast boat passages as nb.Kinver went past at warp speed.
I have yet to test their ability to cope with lock surges and the like !!!

I can't tell on all of them, but it appears that, for the last picture at least, there is no constraint against swinging. Unless you find a way to keep them from swinging, they will mark the wall...

Hi Bob
The little african one is unlikely to be damaged and that is the only one swinging. In fact it doesn't touch the wall anywhere!!!
The scottish bothy is actually held very tight against the wall. Presumably because the wire across the back was naturally tight and in the correct position.
The long tall one I put two wires across the back myself. One a third from the top as normal and the second one about two inches from the bottom (tighter than the top one). And then of course two hooks the correct distance apart. (much grunt required) I hope that this will hold it securely. I am more concerned that they don't fall than mark the wall.
